Pam and Roger - Ferndale, FL.

These are my friends Roger and Pam. They have become two of my wife and I's dearest friends over the past few months of living in Orlando. We got to travel up to Asheville, NC. for their wedding and after I asked if I could do some photos of them. They happily obliged. Thank you for letting me do this guys!

These photos were taken at the Ferndale Preserve in Ferndale, FL.

Grandma Party- ADJY

My friend George plays in the band ADJY. A couple weeks ago he asked me to come out and take some photos of their performance at Stardust's annual Grandma Party. This was my first time attending the event! It was a blast. It was filled with all local vendors and through out the day a variety of local bands played!

This next week ADJY will be leaving Florida to share a house in North Carolina and work full time at making music together. I haven't gotten to know all of them super well, but from the few times I've photographed for them and the hours and years I've spent with George, I know that they are passionate about what they are doing. I can see it in the music they are making and through the time, sweat, and hard work they are putting in to it.

If anyone can succeed at doing what they love and doing it well - it will be them.

I believe in my friends in ADJY and hope that if you get to see them play, you will too.

Enjoy! And please check them out on Bandcamp = http://adjy.bandcamp.com/

Birth Differently - Preview

About a month ago my friend Lee Anne asked if I would photograph the filming of her project entitled "Birth Differently". Lee Anne is my sister, one of my best friends, and someone that I look up to a lot. So of course I said yes.

The project in itself is one that I am most proud of.

What is Birth Differently you ask?

It is a birth advocacy project created to challenge our culture to think about birth differently.

For one afternoon a large group of men and woman were invited to share their birthing stories. I got to do portraits for each story and shoot behind the scenes images.
I thought I would share a few photos before the project's kick starter is launched in the coming months. Once this happens I will post more.

Fresh From The Field - Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

About a month ago my wife and I went to Lake Meadow Farms to get some groceries. I saw a flyer for a dinner benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and was instantly intrigued! I emailed them and asked if I could come and take some photos of the event and they happily invited me to come be a part of the evening.

The dinner was held outdoors in one of the pastures owned by Lake Meadows. Food was catered by chefs from The Ravenous Pig, K Restaurant, Cuisinier's Catering, and The Rusty Spoon. Together they served a four course meal using ingredients from local farms! This was the first year of the event and hopefully not the last. Multiple other restaurants and businesses sponsored the event and donated items for a silent auction allowing for additional proceeds to go towards the foundation.

I believe that life is meant to be shared with others–both with strangers and friends–and it was awesome to see over a hundred people all gathered at one table sharing food and enjoying community with one another. I also believe its important to support local farms and know where our food comes from; It is encouraging to see these things used as a catalyst to support the fight against diseases like Cystic Fibrosis. It is important for us to get out of our bubbles and support things bigger than ourselves. I hope that this is the beginning of more events like this in the Orlando area.

I did my best to capture the essence of the evening and hope you can be encouraged to support and pursue things that are good and worth fighting for. Enjoy!

And...... Then it rained. The rain however didn't seem to quench the evenings festivities. The transition to a covered area was actually incredibly smooth and no one seemed inconvenienced or bothered!

American Gymkhana

Man, oh man. Where do I even begin? A couple weeks ago I attended an event called Cows N' Cabs. There I met Jay who was with American Gymkhana, sister restaurant of Junoon in Manhattan.

A few days after, he called me and asked if I would photograph a party celebrating the opening of American Gymkhana in Dr. Phillips.

If you haven't heard of it already, it is "a modern approach to Indian dining" with a twist of old British royalty meeting present day America.

The food and drinks are impeccable. I had the pleasure of not just photographing, but getting to taste almost everything put in front of me. It is clear that the menu as a whole was well thought out,  made with passion and care. If you are in the area of Dr. Phillips, it is definitely worth the visit.

My personal favorites of it all were the Gymkhana Whiskey Sour–a traditional whiskey sour filled with bourbon and a mix of indian spices. As far as food goes, there was not a single thing I did not enjoy. The meat (in particular the chicken and the lamb) was my favorite.  The veggies were also perfectly cooked and tender.
